After the Fact Ch. 01

Hey guys! Long time no talk!

So here's a new one for you! This is in no way connected to Your Love. Sorry.

This is VERY different. If you are looking for a hot love story with TONS of sex this one might disappoint.

WARNING: SADNESS TERRITORY

I'm already attached to these characters after this first part. I am focusing more on actual story line here and getting some good writing practice in so this is less about sex and more about character development. Again sorry.

As usual, no editor so shred it to bits my loves.

YES THIS IS A MULTI-PARTER, this chapter is ONLY the beginning. Dear God I would be a cruel asshole to leave it this way, not to mention what would be the point?!

Enjoy and leave comments! Constructive criticism welcomed!

"You like that slut?" He stroked into her roughly while she struggled to breathe under his weight.

"Oh yes daddy! Keep fucking me like that!"

"Take it, take all of my cock." He whispered harshly into his ear.

"I'm going to cum!" she screamed.

"Cum with me!"

He grunted and thrust into her one last time before exploding inside of her.

He let out a growl and tightened his hand around her throat as his orgasm ripped through his loins.

"Oh God!" Lila moaned, defeated beneath his sweat covered body.

Marcus laughed before rolling off of her and fell backwards against the rough fabric of the back seat of his truck.

"Jesus," He said between gasping breathes, "How many times was that?"

"Shit I don't know." Lila giggled, "Four for me and three for you I think."

"Damn I'm good at this." He said, clearly gloating at his skills.

She laughed.

"Oh please, we both know I carry the weight here. With anyone else it would just be plain old sex for you." Lila exclaimed in her teasing voice.

Marcus wanted to think of a retort but he couldn't. He didn't really want to admit to it but she may have been right. Sex had always been fun for him, but with Lila it was explosive, she never failed to leaving him feeling drained and satisfied.

"Yea yea yea." Marcus finally replied, "Brag all you want, you love it as much as I do miss."

Lila just smiled.

The two laid there in a comfortable silence waiting to catch their breath.

Lila had almost dozed off when a sound startled her awake.

Station 6 code 2. Station 6 code 2.

Marcus sat up quickly and rummaged through their clothes before he'd found his radio.

He listened intently to the details before tossing it aside.

"Don't worry, not us."

Lila reached down and grabbed her bra.

"It's cool, I gotta get going anyway. I have to be up at 5."

"Ok no problem." He couldn't help but watch as she got dressed in the cramped space.

Lila had always been beautiful. He'd hooked up with black girls before but Lila was by far his favorite. He knew he wasn't her first white guy but he liked to think she liked him best too.

The sex was always amplified when he could watch their skin gliding against each other. He loved watching the dark and light contrast when they were fucking.

He watched as she arched her back and shimmied her panties on over her smooth brown skin.

He finished getting himself dressed and opened the back door of his truck and hopped out into the cool November air.

Lila climbed out behind him and stretched.

"We gotta do something about our locations hun, screwing in the back of your truck is killing my back."

"Tell me about it, I think I got rug burns this time." Marcus whined while looking sadly down at his knees.

"Big baby." Lila mumbled audibly before he smacked her ass.

"Alright miss, text me when you get a chance." He wrapped his arm around her and brought her in for a light and slightly awkward hug.

She put her arm on his back and gave him a few pats.

The "goodbye" part was always weird.

"Will do nerd."

He laughed at their pet name for each other.

"Night nerd." He returned.

He watched Lila walk to her car as he always did and she pulled off into the night.

Marcus attached the radio to his hip before turning to walk back inside the fire station.

**ONE WEEK LATER**

Lila walked into the school where she worked and made her way to the front desk.

"Good morning Miss. Burke." She heard behind her.

She turned to greet the small voice.

"Good morning Thomas, you feeling better today?"

"Yes ma'am." The little boy responded while wiping snot onto his sleeve and sniffling the remaining mess back into his nose.

Lila fought the look of disgust that threatened to appear and managed to smile.

"Okay Thomas, head to class and I'll be there soon."

The child sauntered off and Lila turned towards Mrs. Maynard, the school secretary.

"Why? Why do these parents continue to send their sick children in knowing good and damned well they have to wait 24 hours after the cold goes away before letting them return?"

Mrs. Maynard just laughed.

"You know they can't wait to be rid of them! School is their time off and when kids stay home parents have to deal with them!"

Lila wanted to laugh but it was too true to be funny.

She rolled her eyes and headed off to face her germy first graders.

** ** ** ** **

Lila sat behind her desk placing papers in her tote bag.

It had been a long day and she wanted nothing more than a hot bath and a glass of wine.

Maybe she'd catch up on iZombie on Netflix.

"Heading home?"

Lila looked up from her desk to see Mr. Marcelle standing in her classroom doorway.

She smiled.

"Yep, long day. You?"

"Same here," Jack stepped into her room at sat on a student's desk right across from her own, "thought I might stop at Ordes for a drink. Wanna join?"

Lila gave him a knowing smile and he knew it was coming.

"Jack, you ask me that every Friday and every Friday I tell you the same thing."

He was nothing if not persistent.

Jack gave her a disapproving look.

"Why?"

"You know why." She laughed. "We had a date before and I think we were both smart enough to end things before it messed with our professional relationship."

"No no no," Jack said shaking his head, "You ended things. I always thought we had potential. I still do."

He gave her his best charming smile and she swooned inwardly.

He was cute but wasn't what she wanted.

"Jack we work together."

"Oh bullshit Lila. If that had been the reason you wouldn't have agreed to a date in the first place. Why don't you quit dancing around the facts and tell me why you really won't give me a chance?"

Lila looked at his wide eyes, they were looking at her in a daring and proud manner but she could see his bruised ego clear as day.

"Honestly Jack?"

"Honestly."

"Fine," Lila stood to walk around her desk and face him, "honestly Jack I look at you as a really good friend. Dating you would feel like dating Mr. Rogers. Creepy and highly inappropriate."

Jack opened his mouth to argue his point but she continued.

"Jack I think you would be an amazing boyfriend for someone. You are sweet, attentive, thoughtful, a little too clingy for my taste but still you are a great guy. Just not for me."

He looked as if he wanted to say something else but he didn't.

Instead he slumped his shoulders and smiled in defeat.

"Fair enough. Well then if you ever want to get drink, just as friends, the offer is still out there."

Lila smiled and nodded, "I might actually take you up on that one."

Jack nodded and said goodnight before walking towards the door.

Lila turned to finish grabbing her things when she heard him speak again.

"Oh Lila you should grab your umbrella; it looks like it may start pouring any second."

Lila looked towards the window and saw he was right.

Dark grey clouds were moving in and looked as if they were threatening a flood.

"Thanks Jack I will." With that he left.

** ** ** ** **

Lila had just made it to her car when the rain started coming down harder.

She tossed her wet bags and umbrella into the passenger seat and grabbed her keys.

She had turned the ignition before she heard the familiar *DING*.

She looked down at her phone.

MARCUS: Hey miss got time for me tonight? I got a night off and I need a taste ;)

Lila smiled at the dirty text. He was such a perv.

She texted back.

LILA: Hmm...rainy night sex? Sounds like a plan. I'll text you when I get home.

MARCUS: ttys sexy

Lila smiled and turned on her windshield wipers and putting her car in drive.

She pulled out of the parking lot into the traffic.

The rain was coming down hard and even with the highest setting she could barely see in front of her.

She pulled up at the red light and waited.

Lila looked to her left and saw Ordes, the bar Jack had invited her to.

She thought back to her conversation with him.

She felt bad, truth was she probably was being too picky when it came to Jack. She always was.

All her female coworkers teased her saying no guy was good enough, but what they didn't was there was a guy she thought was good enough. He just didn't look at her that way.

Marcus.

Sometimes she prided herself on how well she hid her crush and sometimes she wondered how could he been so blind as to not notice how much she really liked him.

Men could be such idiots.

Lila thought for a moment, maybe I should go to Ordes. Give Jack a chance.

She looked down at her phone.

No, it would always be Marcus. God I am an stupid.

**HONK**

The car behind her blared its horn and she looked up.

The light was green.

Lila pressed down on the gas and pulled into the intersection.

In a split second she heard it.

**SCREEEEEEEEEEEECH**

Her heart jumped at the sound and she slammed on her breaks.

**CRASH**

Then nothing.

** ** ** ** **

Marcus checked his phone for the millionth time.

No texts.

It was 9 pm, she would have been home hours ago.

This wasn't like her.

Could he say that?

Granted they had been hooking up for a long time, years in fact, but still he didn't really know here everyday habits.

But still, she always text him back. Even if to reschedule a rendezvous.

Where is she?

Should he call?

He had never called her before. She had never called him.

Was calling allowed in a friends with benefits relationship?

Whatever, he'd call. Just to make sure she was ok.

He picked up his phone and found her number.

He pressed the call button and placed the receiver to his ear.

**RING**

**RING**

**RING**

**RING**

He waited.

**RING**

**RING**

**RING**

**RING**

"Hey ya'll this is Lila Burke! Leave a message at the tone and I'll call you back as soon as possible! Have a smiley day!"

Marcus couldn't help but chuckle. He knew her well enough to know that voicemail was dripping with sarcasm, she didn't say words like "smiley", it was for the benefit of her student's parents in case they ever called her.

He hung up before the beep.

He wouldn't worry.

It was Friday, her busiest day, she probably fell asleep as soon as she got home.

He told himself she was fine, but deep down he couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling that something was wrong.

** ** ** ** **

**NEXT MORNING**

Marcus rolled over and groaned. He hated being such an early riser. His body was too used to being a firefighter, his brain would have been all to happy to sleep in.

He reached for his phone.

Surely she she would have text back by now.

He looked at the screen

No texts.

The worried feeling began to creep back but then he reminded himself, it's Saturday.

Poor thing is sleeping in.

Marcus laughed at himself, acting like a worried boyfriend.

He placed the phone back down and stretched his body before getting out of bed.

He stood lazily and walked towards the bathroom.

Marcus turned on the shower and dropped his boxers before stepping under the hot stream.

The steam hit him and he felt his entire body wake up.

His entire body.

Marcus smiled.

Down boy. We'll see her soon enough.

He finished his shower and stepped back into the cooler air and shivered.

Marcus got dressed and walked into his kitchen where he was greeted by his golden retriever Stormy.

"Hey my sweet girl, you ready for breakfast?" He said patting the dog on her head.

He reached down to grab her bowls when he heard a **THUNK** on the door and Stormy frantically began barking.

"Storm! Chill!" Marcus fussed. "We do this every morning!"

Marcus opened the front door a reached down for the newspaper.

Not bothering to look at it he tossed it on the table and went back to preparing breakfast.

Once he'd fed Stormy and made himself coffee and cereal he sat at the table and reached for the paper.

He took a large gulp of his drink and flipped open the news.

He choked on the coffee and felt his chest immediately expand in pain.

He wasn't sure if it was from the hot liquid he'd just inhaled into his lungs or what he'd read on the front page of the newspaper.

In huge black letter of the small city paper read the words:

LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER KILLED IN CAR WRECK

Below the words was a picture of Lila, his Lila.
